Installing BioNet Manually

 

 

This requires that you DO NOT execute any program installer from the autorun menu on the BioNet CDROM.

 

If the autorun installer opens please close it promptly.

 

Pre-requisites: NO SQL installed, No BioNet components installed.

 

NOTE: If SQL installed remove SQL Server or MSDE from Control Panel,  Add Remove Programs reboot the PC then follow this guide from Step 1.

 

NOTE: If SQL installed and cannot be removed then ignore Step 3.

 

Step 1. Open the BioNet Installer CDROM inside windows explorer.

 

Step 2. Open the dotnetfx.exe as supplied and execute the dotnetfx.exe and install the program.

 

Step 3. Open the MSDE directory on the CDROM and execute the setup.exe file within the directory. Accept all defaults to install the MSDE (SQL Basic Framework)

 

Step 4. Reboot the PC.

 

Step 5. Navigate on the CDROM to the directory Registry and find and execute BioNet_ClientV2.reg and BioNet_ServiceV2.reg files.

 

Please note BioNet_ClientV2.reg is required for Clients and BioNet_ServiceV2.reg is for the service installation.

When you execute you will be asked to add the information to the registry accept this and allow this to be completed.

 

Step 6. Navigate in Windows Explorer to the directory C:\Program Files and create a directory in Program Files called BioNet

 

Step 7. Navigate to the CDROM folder Source Files and copy all files in this directory to the directory in Step 5  C:\Program Files\BioNet

 

Step 8. Navigate to the CDROM directory Database and copy the files BioNet.ldf and BioNet.mdf into the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Data directory.

If files exist of the same name over right them.

 

Step 9. Installing the BioNet service

Open a DOS prompt. Go to Start then Run in windows

 

 

The window will appear:

 

 

Change directory to C:\Program Files\BioNet

To change directory from the prompt that appears after starting DOS prompt type:

cd\

 

Then type cd program files\bionet

When the prompt shows the path and cursor as c:\program files\bionet type

Bionetsvc.exe /install /runlocal

The cursor should return to c:\program files\bionet

 

Go to Start on the PC then select Control Panel, then select Administrative Tools, then select Services.

In services make sure there is an entry BioNet Server on the left hand side. See circled area in image below.

 

If the entry is not present then do the task again until it is. If any error shows then check against the spelling in this guide and try again.

 

Step 10. Go to the CDROM and navigate to the directory Utilities and copy the contents of this directory to the location in step 6, C:\Program Files\BioNet

 

Step 11. Open a dos prompt by the using the Start. Run command option in windows

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The window will appear as follows:

 

 

At the prompt type:   cd\

 

The path should now show as:

 

 

Open up Windows explorer and navigate to the directory C:\Program Files\BioNet

and then to find the file called attach.bat

 

Whilst having both the DOS screen above open and the Windows Explorer directory listing open, drag and drop the attach.bat file from the Windows Explorer c:\program files\bionet directory to the DOS screen and then release the mouse.

The prompt on the screen will change and show the following path:

 

 

Press Enter on the keyboard to execute.

 

The command attach.bat links the BioNet.mdf and.ldf files you copied in Step 8 to the SQL MSDE framework. Without this it will not operate.

 

If any error occurs during the attach command note the error and report it to us for assistance @ support@brsgrp.com

 

Step 12. Go to Start on the PC then select Control Panel, then select Administrative Tools, then select Services.

In services highlight the BioNet Server selection then at the top select the green triangle to the right and press it. This is the start button for the BioNet Service

 

 

The BioNet Server selection should appear as follows if it started.

 

Select the refresh button once or twice to ensure it remains Started in the STATUS column. If it stops then notify BRS on support@brsgrp.com

 

Step 13. Create a BioNet shortcut on the desktop to the file c:\program files\bionet\bionet.exe

 

Step 14. If you had no issue in the Steps 1-13, locate the BioNet shortcut and run the program.

 

Step 15. Log in as username “administrator” with password “administrator” case is sensitive.

 

Step 16. The BioNet program if successfully logged in will give you the warning to register, using your rego code supplied, apply the code and register the software.
